Requirements to Become a CNA in New Jersey

If you want to begin a career as a CNA in New Jersey, the first thing you will need to do is complete the Nurse Aide in Long Term Care Facilities Training and Competency Evaluation Program (NATCEP), which consists of 90 hours of training. This training should include 50 hours of classroom lectures and 40 hours of hands-on experience.

After completing the required hours of training, you must apply for and take the state's practical skills evaluation and a written/oral exam. You will also be required to submit to a criminal background check. There is a small fee for the exam, which will cover your testing materials and certification.

Upon passing the exam, you will be certified and eligible to work as a CNA in the state.
